Peter Watkins is a British artist based between Prague and London. His practice explores the subjects of loss, trauma, history, and memory. Above all, Peter’s practice meditates on the subjects of archiving and remembering: how certain material is preserved or lost through processes of memorialisation. Watkins holds a BA in Photography from the University of Westminster (2008), and an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art (2014). He has exhibited internationally, most recently holding solo exhibitions at Webber Gallery, London; Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool; and The Ravestijn Gallery, Amsterdam. His long-term project The Unforgetting has won several awards, including the Skinnerboox Book Award (2019), The Guernsey International Photography Award (2016), and the Magnum Graduate Award (2015). His recent book of the same name went on to be nominated for Les Recontres d’Arles Author Book Award in 2020. His works are held in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Museum Winterthur in Switzerland.
