Valentýna Janů

Valentýna Janů is a Czech artist whose work focuses on the relationship between the real and the imagined. Her videos and installations examine the space in between theory, photography, performance, sculpture and video, often borrowing structures and ideas from outside the discipline of the visual arts. Janů addresses social and cultural environments of the everyday, frequently quoting sources from literature and pop music, and translating these singular formations to compose familiar everyday experiences. Janů’s recent exhibitions include Kunsteverening Diepenheim, Holland, Columbia University, New York and the National Gallery, Prague.
